About Us

The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce opened its doors on January 1, 2009 with a mission 'to strengthen our member businesses and stimulate regional prosperity.' The new chamber emerged from Chaska, Chanhassen, Carver and Victoria business communities combining to form a regional organization, inclusive of all surrounding areas. Today the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce has a nearly 500 members and is dedicated to providing advocacy, leadership and personal and professional development opportunities for our member businesses.

Initiatives

The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce is committed to continuous improvement and being responsive to our members. To that end, we work on initiatives that benefit our members and support the mission of the Chamber.

"Chamber First" Mentality

The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce endorses the "Chamber First" mentality, encouraging all members to think of fellow members first when doing business and shopping locally.

Business Council Partnerships

The Chamber participates in an affiliate membership program with local business councils, encouraging businesses to participate both regionally and locally within their city.

Business/Education Partnerships

Members of the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce understand that schools are educating our future workforce. To address the needs of business in the future, members of the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce are investing today. Mentorships, internships, industry and school tours and speakers are all methods we employ to ensure that students understand the connection between what they learn in the classroom and how that applies to the workplace.

Tourism

Tourism is a lucrative business in Minnesota. By advocating for the passing of a lodging tax that would be directed to helping tap the tourism market, the SouthWest Metro region could realize an infusion of more than $5.5 million annually through increased economic activity. Chamber members stand to benefit immensely from this special funding mechanism designed to attract additional conventions, sporting events, motor coaches and visitors to the area.

Public Policy/Economic Development/Transportation

The SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce participates both in the Grow Minnesota program, a Minnesota Chamber program focused on job retention and creation as well as working with Greater MSP, the Minneapolis Saint Paul Economic Development organization.
